Onus is now on Spain to respect the results of the election it called. Nobody in Catalonia wanted these elections but everyone here vowed to respect the results. Rajoy Saïd he would only respect a return to 'constitutional norms' which will not happen.

The spotlight is now fully on Europe. Frankly, nobody here expects a major change in attitude from the Spanish regime. The EU has to bring pressure on Rajoy to facilitate negotiations.

After #1-O and the police violence the phrase I heard again and again was 'there's no going back now.' More so now, the message is clear: Catalonia is a country in waiting. And it's waiting for help.
